I meant to write this blog post a few days ago but the longer I put off doing it, the more it feels like a chore, and the less inclined I was to do this. Weird how that happens with the simplest things sometimes.

Anyhow! Robert and I have been thinking about organizing fantasy blogging activities of ours, and in that vein we now have four blogs up and running. You can check out descriptions of each of them on their about pages, or check out the BLOGS page on fantasy is love which has brief descriptions of each.

As far as our lj blog here goes, I am thinking I will update once a day with links to any posts made that day with info about them so you can see if there’s anything you’d like to read. So...that’s the plan!

There have been a number of posts that I haven’t updated about, and I’ll try to quickly post about them here.

Whew, ok, that catches us up! Much more coming soon of course, but I hope you have found something interesting to read here.

A while back when I posted the second issue of Fantasy is Love I posted about what's happening with the Wheel of Time series since Jordan's passing-but now something totally new is happening! Universal purchased the film rights for the Wheel of Time series.

There's an article about it right here from a little over a week ago. I thought that after that IMDB would post some more information on what's happening with this, but all they've done so far is put up a page that says "The Eye of the World, 2011" for IMDB pro members only, and I haven't found much more information beyond that.

For fans of the books, do you think they'll adapt well to the screen? I think it's always hard to know whether they'll do a great job or not. I'm sure LOTR fans were scared when they made that into a film, heh.

Today when I was stumbling all things fantasy (feel free to friend me by the way, I love stumblupon!) I came across a great many things-one of which was a Pratchgan.

When a group of discworld fans on ravelry, a knitting and crochet community heard about Terry Pratchett being diagnosed with Alzheimer's they wanted to do something. Apparently, they decided to ban together and create squares for the Pratchgan, which was recently given to Terry Pratchett in person at the Edinburgh International Book Festival!

You can see a blog post right here about the experience of giving Pratchett the blanket, and you can read one of the letters given to Pratchett explaining the blanket right here.

What a sweet, fabulous project! I love it :)

I think the film Labyrinth will always hold a special place in my heart, in large part because of my tenth grade English teacher. In his class we watched a number of films as literature-which basically meant that every 20 seconds or so he would hit pause and we would discuss the symbolism of the color of the curtains. Most students hated this, but I thought it was wonderful. When I heard we would be watching Labyrinth, I wasn't too thrilled. This film terrified me as a child in a way no other film had. The idea of meeting creatures who could pull off their heads and throw them at you-ugh, we probably shouldn't talk about it-suffice to say, it scared me.

However, this time through I was not as frightened and came to really love the film. In fact, it changed the way I watched films and read books from there on out-I started critically thinking about the stories that used to just play in the background of my mind. I love watching for the details in film not, too. How many other people have taken the time to think about that bird in the opening credits, noticed the books and toys in Sarah's room, or even thought about what the literary references in some of the character's names really means?

Labyrinth is a very interesting and fun film, and for me, it had quite the impact on my life. :) Definitely has to be up there on my favorites list.

It wasn't that long ago that I watched Penelope, but I'm already thinking of renting it again. Maybe that means I should go ahead and purchase the DVD.

If you haven't seen this film, I would recommend it. It has Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, and Reese Witherspoon in it. The story is about a girl with a family curse that won't break until she is wed, she's in her early twenties and has spent her whole life focused on breaking the curse.

I sort of left the film with a similar feeling that I had after watching Enchanted, though the stories aren't all that similar.

One of the things I really loved about the film Penelope were the costumes and stage set ups. The colors in this film were just lovely. I liked the bubbles when she gets out in the world, and I desperately want a Penelope scarf!

In other news, because the sixth Harry Potter film release was pushed back to Summer (sad! it was supposed to be released this Thanksgiving), they decided to move up the release of Twilight to November 21st (three weeks early!) yay!

I haven't heard about whether they are changing release dates in other countries yet, but I would guess that they wouldn't be so mean as not to do it.

From the Fantasy Is Love Media Blog:

You won’t really be seeing updates for Twilight business on this blog anymore, because I have decided to let my slight obsession with the series run free on it’s very own blog: Twilight Is Love. Just this past week the teaser trailer for the film has been released, the movie poster, and now the website, so, I’m sure there will be lots to talk about. :)

For this livejournal, I'll still post clips when I update the Twilight Blog-what I'll do, I think, is do sort of a "blog round-up" with clipits from the different blog posts of the day.

From the Twilight is Love Blog:

"I had been told by a couple of people to read Twilight, but put it off for quite a while. See, it wasn’t that I thought I wouldn’t like the story. Oh, no, no, actually-I was worried about becoming addicted...."

"The Twilight Movie site is up with the pretty poster, and the pretty trailer, and the excitement almost makes me forget how very far away December really is...."

I mentioned it earlier this month, and it’s finally here! A thoroughly revamped Fantasy Is Love!

Some of the Things That Are New:

Magazine! – The new Fantasy Is Love Magazine! This first issue features Priscilla Hernandez on the cover, and there’s a great interview with her inside! Among the many great things inside are A Beginner’s Guide to RPGs, the Top Reasons to Watch Dead Like Me, more interviews, links to fantasy hot spots around the web, and more. A great read!

Fantasy Fanspace – A social networking site for those of us who are fantasy artists, writers, crafters, musicians, or a fan of any level, it’s a platform for connecting to other fantasy fans.

Quotes – The popular quotes generator on FantasyIsLove.com still has the same quotes you love, but we have doubled the number of quotes in the generator!

Plus, every other page throughout the site has had it’s layouts, wordings, and other parts tweaked and improved. We’re really excited about these changes, and hope you’ll love them to! Please be in touch with any thoughts or concerns you may have.

((((From the Fantasy Is Love Blog post here))))

Today we have three new releases marked on the Fantasy Is Love Calendar today including the Stardust Soundtrack, Supernatural Season 2, and the final season of Charmed.

The Stardust Soundtrack by composer Ilan Eshkeri has gotten a great review on scorenotes.com which also includes some sound clips. I would assume that if you are interested in purchasing the soundtrack you have seen the film, so I feel compelled to mention that Take That’s Rule the World is not on this soundtrack, since it is seems to be quite a popular song from the film. The song is being released as a single on October 29th.

Supernatural Season 2 is being released on DVD today! I talked a bit about my favorite episode of the season on this post two weeks ago. If you’ve gotten behind on the show, this is an excellent opportunity to grab the dvd set and catch up before season 3 premieres on October 4th.

Season 8 of Charmed is now out on DVD and while I haven’t checked them out myself yet, the extras do look promising. There are three featurettes, including a two part documentary (“The Story of Charmed” and “Forever Charmed”) with part one including parts of the original, unaired, pilot with Lori Rom playing Phoebe. There is also supposed to be a gag-reel and episode commentaries on a number of episodes, among other things. It seems like it is definitely worth checking out for Charmed fans!

I would like to tell you about another new show coming in the next few weeks, but I just know that as soon as I say the words “vampire detective” here, someone out there is going to be sitting in front of their computer screen screaming out “Angel!”. I understand the urge, and, while Angel is definitely my favorite vampire detective, it’s not Angel. This vampire detective is named Mick St. John, he has been a vampire for 60 years when on his wedding night his seductress bride Coraline sired him. He is now suffering as he falls in love with the off limits Beth-a mortal-and a news reporter. And he’s doing it all on the new show “Moonlight”, premiering in a few weeks. The first episode is titled “There’s No Such Things As Vampires” and jumps right into the story with Mick St. John trying to figure out who is committing a string of “vampire like” murders around town.

Below I have TWO youtube videos for your pleasure. ONE is the CBS trailer for Moonlight and TWO is the promo “Interview with a Vampire”, an interview with Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin).

CBS, and of course Fox, (think Firefly, Wonderfalls...) are somewhat famous for giving up on television programs after a few episodes. If you plan on giving Moonlight a chance, I suggest doing it from the beginning.

I’d like to note that many Angel fans have been upset about the obvious similarities between Moonlight and Angel. While the show does have a vampire detective with love problems who seems to like to brood, and who apparently lives in LA from what I’ve read, there is no promise that the two shows will have much more in common. Personally, when I consider how much I love Angel and still crave new episodes, I figure the similiarities between the two shows is more of a reason to watch Moonlight than to give up on it without having actually seen it. Feel free to debate this on the Fantasy Is Love Forums!

Moonlight premieres on September 28th on CBS (CTV in Canada)

I believe in my last entry here, I was talking about how I am going to be a better LJer. How dissapointing. Well, in good recap fashion...

Here is a recent post from the main fantasy is love blog behind this cut about STARDUST! ) The film you need to see again and again :)

And, a post on the new upcoming fall show "Reaper"...

It's that time of year where the commercials are running, trying to convince you to watch the next big show on television. If you haven't heard much about this show yet, you really need to.

The show is called "Reaper". The more I read about it, the more I feel it has sort of a "Supernatural" and "Wonderfalls" appeal, fantasy with humor. The show is about a boy who is a bounty hunter for the devil, who collects souls with everyday items such as a Red Devil dirt buster. The evil souls are collected and taken back to hell on earth, which just so happens to be the local DMV office. Are you catching the humor here?

Sam, our slacker reaper, is a boy who lives with his parents and works at a hardware store, who has taken it easy his entire life until on his 21st birthday he finds out that his parents sold his soul to the devil. He's in for a bit of a lifestyle change.

The show is directed by Kevin Smith, which I believe means that the show will be sticking to it's firm roots in humor. The extended preview is full of quotable humorous moments, but my favorite takes place with Sam's best friend.

Reaper (Sam): "My parents sold my soul to the devil."
Friend:"You lucky bastard."
Reaper (Sam): "What?"
Friend: "Well nothing cool like that ever happens to me, man!"

I tried to find the best quality video that I could for you, hopefully the video below works out. You can also view the video directly on youtube.com, and take a minute to share your thoughts on the show on the Fantasy Is Love Forums.

This is the extended preview of Reaper, the CW's new show on Friday nights, premiering September 25th.

I have been terribly neglectful of actually posting in this livejoural. I promise to make a good effort and become better at it.

As I posted on the blog on FiL.com I am seeking submissions for a new section on Fantasy Is Love. I'm not entirely sure what I plan on naming it yet, but perhaps I'll have a poll or something for that later. :) Read about it behind the LJ CUT )

In other news, there are new fun posts on Fantasy Handmade, I love the pretty things at the GlassDiane etsy shop that are up right now. Just gorgeous.

They have released an extended preview trailer for the film The Golden Compass! I posted the youtube video of it up on the fantasy is love main blog (a few posts down) and you can watch it there. It's 5 minutes of awesome, and I'm really excited for the film, even if it doesn't come out until December.

Speaking of films, Stardust comes out on August 10th! I'll lj cut the trailer of the film here for you )

If you haven't seen the trailer, you should! And if you've only seen the commercials on television, I recommend seeing the full trailer. It wins.

I'm very excited to see this film, too. I'm hoping it'll be a lot of fun. What do other people think?
