I meant to write this blog post a few days ago but the longer I put off doing it, the more it feels like a chore, and the less inclined I was to do this. Weird how that happens with the simplest things sometimes.

Anyhow! Robert and I have been thinking about organizing fantasy blogging activities of ours, and in that vein we now have four blogs up and running. You can check out descriptions of each of them on their about pages, or check out the BLOGS page on fantasy is love which has brief descriptions of each.

As far as our lj blog here goes, I am thinking I will update once a day with links to any posts made that day with info about them so you can see if there’s anything you’d like to read. So...that’s the plan!

There have been a number of posts that I haven’t updated about, and I’ll try to quickly post about them here.

Whew, ok, that catches us up! Much more coming soon of course, but I hope you have found something interesting to read here.

This is very big and important news about the internet leak of Midnight Sun and what it means for the future of the project from Stephenie Meyer. Read about it on my blog Twilight is Love and share your thoughts in the comments.

A while back when I posted the second issue of Fantasy is Love I posted about what's happening with the Wheel of Time series since Jordan's passing-but now something totally new is happening! Universal purchased the film rights for the Wheel of Time series.

There's an article about it right here from a little over a week ago. I thought that after that IMDB would post some more information on what's happening with this, but all they've done so far is put up a page that says "The Eye of the World, 2011" for IMDB pro members only, and I haven't found much more information beyond that.

For fans of the books, do you think they'll adapt well to the screen? I think it's always hard to know whether they'll do a great job or not. I'm sure LOTR fans were scared when they made that into a film, heh.

Today when I was stumbling all things fantasy (feel free to friend me by the way, I love stumblupon!) I came across a great many things-one of which was a Pratchgan.

When a group of discworld fans on ravelry, a knitting and crochet community heard about Terry Pratchett being diagnosed with Alzheimer's they wanted to do something. Apparently, they decided to ban together and create squares for the Pratchgan, which was recently given to Terry Pratchett in person at the Edinburgh International Book Festival!

You can see a blog post right here about the experience of giving Pratchett the blanket, and you can read one of the letters given to Pratchett explaining the blanket right here.

What a sweet, fabulous project! I love it :)

I think the film Labyrinth will always hold a special place in my heart, in large part because of my tenth grade English teacher. In his class we watched a number of films as literature-which basically meant that every 20 seconds or so he would hit pause and we would discuss the symbolism of the color of the curtains. Most students hated this, but I thought it was wonderful. When I heard we would be watching Labyrinth, I wasn't too thrilled. This film terrified me as a child in a way no other film had. The idea of meeting creatures who could pull off their heads and throw them at you-ugh, we probably shouldn't talk about it-suffice to say, it scared me.

However, this time through I was not as frightened and came to really love the film. In fact, it changed the way I watched films and read books from there on out-I started critically thinking about the stories that used to just play in the background of my mind. I love watching for the details in film not, too. How many other people have taken the time to think about that bird in the opening credits, noticed the books and toys in Sarah's room, or even thought about what the literary references in some of the character's names really means?

Labyrinth is a very interesting and fun film, and for me, it had quite the impact on my life. :) Definitely has to be up there on my favorites list.

The Prince Caspian DVDS/Blue Ray discs are being released in the USA on December 2nd, the day before my birthday. I'm really looking forward to seeing thefilm again-I Greatly enjoyed this one AND the special features list does look quite extensive, so that should be fun.

It wasn't that long ago that I watched Penelope, but I'm already thinking of renting it again. Maybe that means I should go ahead and purchase the DVD.

If you haven't seen this film, I would recommend it. It has Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, and Reese Witherspoon in it. The story is about a girl with a family curse that won't break until she is wed, she's in her early twenties and has spent her whole life focused on breaking the curse.

I sort of left the film with a similar feeling that I had after watching Enchanted, though the stories aren't all that similar.

One of the things I really loved about the film Penelope were the costumes and stage set ups. The colors in this film were just lovely. I liked the bubbles when she gets out in the world, and I desperately want a Penelope scarf!

In other news, because the sixth Harry Potter film release was pushed back to Summer (sad! it was supposed to be released this Thanksgiving), they decided to move up the release of Twilight to November 21st (three weeks early!) yay!

I haven't heard about whether they are changing release dates in other countries yet, but I would guess that they wouldn't be so mean as not to do it.
